People always ask “If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you choose?” For me the answer is simple Nashville, TN. Whether you are just visiting or you choose to make Nashville your home there are so many things to do here. That’s why I have decided to devote my first few blog posts about my hometown, Nashville, TN.
One of my favorite things to do in Nashville is go Honky Tonkin’ downtown. I like to start at the corner of 5th and Broadway a wander in and out of them, staying for a while when I hear a song I like. Some of my favorites along the strip are: Tootsies Orchid Lounge, Second Fiddle, Roberts Western World, Bootlegger’s Inn, Rippy’s, Nudie’s, Whiskey Bent Saloon, The Valentine, The Stage, Legend’s Corner, Layla’s, Tin Roof, and Crazytown.
There is also a whole crop of bars that have popped up downtown owned by country stars. These are always popular spots. Blake Shelton’s Ole Red, Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row, Jason Alden’s Rooftop Kitchen, Alan Jackson’s AJ’s Good Time Bar, Luke Bryan’s 32 Bridge, and FGL House (just south of Broadway) are some of my favorites.
Broadway is also known for its rooftop bars. Many of the one already mentioned have great rooftops but some additional must sees are the Nashville Underground, Famous, L27 (a few blocks away but worth the walk) and Tock Bottom.
If you are looking to karaoke, WannaB’s is always fun or head north on 3rd avenue one block to my favorite bar The Wild Beaver, which is the perfect spot for people watching with karaoke, a mechanical bull, lots of games and reasonably priced drinks. The Wild Beaver is a must see for all bachelor and bachelorette parties. If playing games is your thing, also be sure to check out Downtown Sporting Club.
If you are looking for something to eat while downtown my favorites on Broadway are Merchant’s, Jack’s, Mellow Mushroom and Acme. I personally love Italian food and there are three great Italian restaurant just a block from Broadway (Trattoria Il Mulino, the Old Spaghetti Factory and Demo’s). The Stillery on 2nd Avenue is also wonderful.
While you’re downtown, make sure to catch a concert at one of the awesome venues such as Bridgestone Arena, The Ryman Auditorium, Ascend Amphitheater, or Nissan Stadium.
Nashville is also home to professional hockey, football, baseball, and soccer teams who all play in the downtown area.
If you want to take in some culture, there is plenty of that in walking distance of downtown such as: the Country Music Hall of Fame, The Johnny Cash Museum, the Bicentennial Mall, The Frist Center, and the Tennessee State Museum. The Adventure Science Center and the Parthenon are also just a short drive away.
With so many awesome things to do, why would you not want to live here. Let me know if there are other things you would like to know about Nashville.
